Cards now have an album, not an arena
We renamed one field in the card catalog. If your game reads a card's category or filters the catalog by it, this page shows the two small changes to make.
What changed
The seven card categories (Space, History, Arts & Culture, Science, Oceans & Seas, Life on Land, Paleontology) are called albums now, matching the real CUE game. They used to be called arenas in the SDK, which was our mistake: in CUE, an arena is the battle backdrop a round is played in, while every card belongs to an album.
Two names changed, both from arena to album:
- Every card object now has
card.albuminstead ofcard.arena. - The catalog filter is now
cue.cards.query({ album: ... })instead of{ arena: ... }.
The values are the same seven names as before. Nothing else about cards changed.
What to update
Search your game's code for arena. Wherever you read the field or pass the filter, swap the name:
// Before
const spaceCards = await cue.cards.query({ arena: 'Space' });
if (card.arena === 'History') { ... }
// After
const spaceCards = await cue.cards.query({ album: 'Space' });
if (card.album === 'History') { ... }If the word arena in your game only names your own things, like a CSS class for your play area, leave those alone. Only the card field and the query filter moved.
If you don't update
Your game keeps running, but card.arena reads as empty (undefined), and a query with { arena: 'Space' } ignores the filter and returns every card. So category checks stop matching and filtered card lists come back too big. Once you rename both spots, everything behaves exactly as before.
